Individual Counselling - Adults 18+
An individual counselling session is a supportive one-on-one format between you and your therapist, tailored to address your unique concerns and goals. This can be done either in-person or virtually.
-
Group Counselling
Offered both in-person and virtually.
A group counselling session involves a small group of individuals (usually 6-10 people) who come together under the guidance of a trained therapist to discuss common issues, share experiences, and offer support to one another. These sessions provide a safe and confidential environment where members can openly communicate their thoughts and feelings.
NOTE: Please contact me if you are interested in groups and I will let you know what is currently available.
I have trained in several effective counselling methods including but not limited to:
-
Somatic EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an integrative therapeutic approach that combines traditional EMDR with somatic (body-based) techniques.
Here's a breakdown:
Traditional EMDR: This therapy helps individuals process and resolve traumatic memories and distressing life experiences by using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, to reprocess memories in a way that reduces their emotional charge.
Somatic Component: In Somatic EMDR, there's a focus on the body's sensations and physical responses. It incorporates techniques that help clients become more aware of how trauma and stress are stored in the body. This can involve exploring physical sensations, movements, and postures that are linked to traumatic memories.
-
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-oriented, collaborative approach that emphasizes finding solutions rather than focusing on problems.
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a widely used, evidence-based approach that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The core idea is that our thoughts influence our emotions and behaviors, and by changing negative or distorted thinking patterns, we can improve our emotional state and behaviors.
-
Mindfulness-Based Therapy is a therapeutic approach that incorporates mindfulness practices to help individuals manage stress, emotional distress, and various mental health conditions. It focuses on cultivating present-moment awareness and acceptance of thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations.

Person-Centered Therapy, also known as Client-Centered Therapy, is a humanistic approach developed by Carl Rogers. It emphasizes the importance of creating a supportive and empathetic therapeutic environment to facilitate personal growth and self-discovery.
Person-Centered Therapy is effective for a variety of issues, including self-esteem problems, relationship difficulties, and personal development, and is valued for its empathetic and non-directive approach.
-
Trauma-Informed Therapy is an approach that recognizes and addresses the impact of trauma on an individual's mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It prioritizes understanding the widespread effects of trauma and incorporates this understanding into the therapeutic process to provide a safe and supportive environment for healing.
-
Socratic questioning is a technique used in therapy to help clients explore and understand their thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions more deeply. It involves asking a series of open-ended, thought-provoking questions that encourage clients to examine their thinking patterns and consider alternative perspectives.

Therapeutic writing is a form of expressive writing used in therapy to help individuals explore, process, and make sense of their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. It can be a powerful tool for self-reflection, emotional expression, and personal growth.
