Megan (Meg) Roberts MC, CCC
Canadian Certified Counsellor in Okotoks, Alberta
Welcome to the Hope and Healing Sanctuary. I’m Megan (Meg) Roberts, a Canadian Certified Counsellor in Okotoks, Alberta. My journey into the field of counselling is deeply rooted in a lifelong passion for helping others. From an early age, I found it unbearable to witness others in pain. While I couldn’t erase their suffering, I felt a profound calling to dedicate my life to helping others.
A Journey of Personal and Professional Growth
Life has been a remarkable teacher for me, and I’ve learned many lessons through the various roles I’ve played – wife, mother, stepmother, widow, former police officer, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Each role has imparted its own set of insights and challenges, enriching my understanding of human nature and resilience.
My decade-long career as a police officer was pivotal in shaping my desire to help people heal. During those years, I witnessed firsthand the struggles and traumas faced by others, which ignited my passion for mental health and self-development. It was a profession that provided a profound sense of purpose and a deep appreciation for the strength required to overcome adversity.
One defining moment of my life came with the sudden loss of my 30-year-old fiancé, Nick. This devastating experience was a catalyst that propelled me towards a new purpose: to become a guiding light for those seeking healing. This loss underscored the importance of having a compassionate support system and the transformative power of healing.
My Mission and Philosophy
As a therapist, my mission is to help you become the best version of yourself. My goal is to work myself out of a job – meaning that if I have done my job well, I have empowered you to help yourself. I believe in fostering self-reliance and resilience, enabling you to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and grace.
I hold a firm belief that we are not meant to suffer or remain stagnant. Healing and growth are intrinsic parts of the human experience, and my philosophy is centered around this understanding. I know that everyone has the potential to heal and transform, and I am committed to helping you unlock that potential.
Counselling Style and Approach
My approach to counselling is grounded in both evidence-based techniques and a deep understanding of the mind-body connection. I teach individuals how to understand and confront their survival mechanisms and recondition their bodies to align with a new, healthier mindset. My goal is to free your mind and open your heart, creating space fro genuine growth and transformation.
Many people function in a state of chronic stress and survival without even realizing it. They become accustomed to the chemicals and hormonses associated with this state, which feels “normal” to them. My work involves helping you recognize and shift out of this default state, allowing you to experience life more fully and authentically.
I embrace a holistic approach that integrates the body, mind, and soul. I am guided by the understanding that persistent thoughts lead to recurring feelings, which in turn drive behaviors and decisions. To create meaningful change, we must address these fundamental patterns.
The key to healing and transformation is overcoming self-doubt. I am committed to helping you conquer this doubt and unlock your inherent strength.
Together, we will explore your inner landscape, cultivate resilience, and uncover the strength within you to not just exist but to truly live. My role is to provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can be your authentic self, met with compassion, care, and respect.
Results Linked to My Approach
Clients often report significant improvements in their emotional well-being, self-awareness, and overall quality of life. My approach has helped individuals gain clarity, reduce anxiety, overcome traumatic experiences, and develop effective coping strategies. By focusing on both immediate concerns and long-term growth, I will support you in achieving sustainable positive change and enhancing your overall resilience.
My Strengths as a Therapist
One of my strengths is my ability to intuitively understand what’s not being said, providing insights that go beyond surface-level concerns. This deep, heart centred understanding allows me to offer valuable perspecitves and guidance that resonate with your innder experience. Additionally, my personal experience with loss and resilience enables me to connect with clients on a profound level, offering empathy and support that is both genuine and impactful.
A Sanctuary for Healing
I refer to my therapy space as a sanctuary – a safe, nurturing environment where you can find solace and support. Whether you’re dealing with profound loss, daily challenges, or simply seeking personal growth, I am here to guide you through your healing journey. Thank you for taking this brave step toward a better tomorrow. What I love most about being a therapist is the opportunity to witness and be a part of transformative journeys. I am profoundly grateful for the trust clients place in me and for the chance to support their growth and healing.
